What we have done. . .
Our 42nd MetroUser’s meeting was presented to you through the power of the internet as a 4-day Webinar. This format was a low cost method of providing your organization information from industry experts. The feedback from delegates and vendors was positive and if you missed any presentations they are posted on our website http://www.metrousersgroup.com/. We heard one common thread among all the responses, “it’s not the same as a face to face exchange”. We agree that nothing can take the place of a traditional conference; our hope was to keep the MetroUsers name and purpose alive until we could again meet in person.
What we’re doing. . .. The MetroUsers board continues to discuss the future of our organization and we are actively exploring ideas to continue our role in the industry. Based on the feedback and recommendations of our participating delegates and our supporting vendors the MUG board is planning a 43rd traditional conference in 2011.
Location: We have looked at many locations and have found the most affordable deal at an old favorite; in Tucson.
Timeframe: To avoid conflict with other industry conferences and to secure the best rates we are considering June 2011
Format: We have held meetings and had discussions with many decision makers from the industry. We are adjusting the outline of our conference to answer many concerns. We will hold a weekend (Sat & Sun) conference, focused on training and information sharing. We will drop the golf outing as part of the MetroUsers agenda. We will include vendors in training and informational meetings. The discussion continues as to a specific agenda. What can you be doing. . . ? Help us plan by providing feedback. (The Board of Directors emails are on the website.) Make plans to attend in 2011. This will be the “best bang for your buck” with respect to training and access to the experts. You must convince the gatekeepers of the value to your organization.
Stay Tuned!! More details will follow in the near future.
Sincerely,
The MUG Board
